PostnatalDoula Services
Having a baby is one of the biggest life transitions people go through. During this incredibly vulnerable time I want you to feel safe, protected and supported so that you start your parenting journey feeling empowered. I passionately believe parents need to be nurtured during the post-natal period - that's where I come in!

About me
It is my passion to and joy in life to watch women step into their power. Women's rights has always been at the forefront in my working life and becoming a doula is a continuation of that.
People fascinate me - they always have! I love the diverse way people see and experience the world. Spending time with people is my favourite thing to do!
I also love: a good cheeseboard, theatre, stand-up comedy, tacky seaside towns and dancing with no finesse!
Why get a postnatal doula?
Early parenthood is such a vulnerable time in a person's life and I really believe it should be protected and honoured in the most important way.
You may not even know what you'll need until the baby is here:
- Do you need someone to hold the baby so you can feel like a fully autonomous person again?
- Do you wish someone would make you food and drinks so you can sit and enjoy your baby?
- Do you need to talk to someone who's been through this myriad of conflicting emotions?
- Do you need your other children to be entertained when you're feeding or sleeping?
Whatever you need, I'll do my very best to help you with it.
If what you need is further professional support, like a feeding specialist or midwife/doctor, then I know the right people to recommend.

FAQs
I'm sure you have plenty of things you'd like to ask me, which I'm happy to chat about on the phone or over email - just use the contact form below if you want to get in touch.
However, here are some of the things I often get asked by expectant mothers trying to choose a postnatal doula:
There is nothing quite like the privilege of being invited to someone’s birth – it’s a role I absolutely adore! However, for now, it doesn’t work for my family so I’m focusing on postnatal work.
I may occasionally take on a birth doula client if the circumstances are right. Contact me if you want to talk more about this.
There are many benefits to using a sling, which is why I highly recommend them. Beyond the convenience of keeping your hands free, a sling can help your baby bond, support breastfeeding and promote healthy development by emulating the womb environment.
Although I am not a trained sling consultant, I have been wearing babies in slings for many years, so can certainly pass on my extensive knowledge on a peer-to-peer basis.
When I became a mother over a decade ago, I quickly realised how much our modern way of life was harming our experiences of birth and motherhood. Gone are the wise women from the village who prepare you for birth, or who swoop in afterwards to make you soup, give you massages, do your housework and help care for your baby.
I craved this community and wisdom desperately, so with my second child I had a doula and a very empowering homebirth at almost 43 weeks (eek!). At first my husband assumed the doula would be a hippy who would replace him in the birth process, but he soon changed his mind.
She was not a hippy, she was an impressive, informed woman with a brilliant sense of humour. I aspired to be like her, so decided that’s what I would do going forward!
I will aim to make your first 6 weeks as easy as possible by ‘taking care of mother’. The support I offer can vary depend on what you feel you need assistance with, but the most common items are:
- Cooking meals
- Feeding support
- Emotional care
- Confidence building
- Sibling & pet care
- Light housekeeping
- Massage
- Tips & advice
- Birth reflection
I love a placenta as much as the next doula, but I’m not a hippy in really any other way. If you want crystals and sage, then awesome – there are a ton of doulas who can give you that (and I adore them!), but that isn’t me.
What I will give you is research-backed information, a warm and caring presence and a wealth of experience being with babies and mothers that began when I was still a child myself.
Testimonials
I had two children just 21 months apart and experienced secondary trauma during my second pregnancy, which was linked to my job. Jill was an incredible support during that time, especially in her role as my postnatal doula.
My first birth was a wonderful home birth, and Jill came without fuss, offering calm, practical support wherever I needed it. She helped me navigate breastfeeding challenges, including addressing the pain and tongue tie my baby had. Jill was a true beacon of reassurance in moments when I felt I was failing at breastfeeding. Without any judgement, she supported me to fully breastfeed my baby which was something I deeply wanted.
When my second child arrived, Jill adapted her care to my changing needs and supported my mental health with the same compassion and understanding. She came alongside me when I most needed a trusted presence.
If I were to have another baby, I would be straight on the phone to Jill, she was an essential part of my journey.
